Sun Cluster Patches
Overview
Based on the description of the cluster system you provide below, the PatchPro tool will generate the following four lists of patches:
- Solaris Patches (installed before Sun Cluster, includes firmware updates)
- Sun Cluster Patches
- Post-Install Patches (volume management, etc.)
- Data Service Patches
When you download these patches they will be saved in tar(1) file format. Each tar(1) file will contain a README file which will list the patches in installation order. For new Sun Cluster installations some of the patches will need to be installed before you install the Sun Cluster software.
This tool generally points to the latest revision of a patch. However there will be some lag time between the release of a patch and it having been tested with Sun Cluster software. If you already have the minimum level of a patch or an earlier revision than the one found by Patchpro, consult the patch's README file to determine your exposure should you choose not to install the newer revision level. In general, if you already have Sun Cluster software installed consult the README file of the individual patches to determine the best strategy to pursue installation of the new patches.
Note: PatchPro displays the patches required for the system components you select. It does not verify that the components you select represent a recommended Solaris or Sun Cluster configuration. If your favorite system component is missing from the list displayed, it does not mean that the component is not supported; it means there are no known patches for this component to be recommended by this tool.
MISSING PRODUCTS: For the time being, PatchPro is not able to distribute patches from certain non-Sun suppliers. Please go to Sunsolve Infodocs to get more information.
Note: This PatchPro Interactive Page displays patches required for Sun Cluster. However, for users with a need to have the highest levels of availability and security, it is suggested that they also install the Solaris Recommended and Security Patch Clusters.
The Solaris Recommended and Security Patch Clusters are available on the PatchPro Recommended and Security Patches site. These patches should be installed before installing the Sun Cluster specific patches.

Generate Patch Lists
Important: When you generate each of the patch lists, rename the default file name with an appropriate name for each patch grouping. (Suggested file names are provided below for each patch list.) Otherwise, if you do not rename the files, each download will use the same name for each of the four tar files and overwrite the file you previously downloaded.

Note: All patches in the Solaris patch group must be installed to the minimum revision level before you install Sun Cluster software. If you already have Sun Cluster installed and working you do not need to generate and install the Solaris Patches group. However, you may still want to generate this list and compare it to your currently installed patch set. One or more of the patches on this list will generally require a reconfiguration reboot of the system. Consult the patch README files to determine whether any of the patches for your configuration do require a reconfiguration reboot or other special handling.
